Intricately hand-woven sterling silver and gold-filled wire ring with Infinity symbol.
Sterling Silver and Gold are both types of metal that have been around for thousands of years. Both are hypo-allergenic and safe for the majority of persons who want to wear them.
Sterling Silver is 92.5% solid silver.
Gold-filled wire is NOT gold-plated wire. Gold-plating means that a very thin layer of gold has been electro-plated onto a base metal, usually jeweler's brass, at a level of 0.05% (or smaller). It's not very strong and can come off just with a good cleaning!
Gold-filled contains 12-14kt gold that has been bonded (read "welded") to a core of brass using heat and pressure. Legally, gold-filled wire is also regulated to be a minimum of 5% of the total weight in gold. This means it's up to 100 times stronger than gold-plated, so as long as the wearer takes care of their jewelry, they'll have it for a lifetime.
I use 14/20 gold-filled wire, so this is wire made using 14kt gold. A polishing cloth is enclosed with the piece in a damask box suitable for gifting; however, you'll only need it to polish the silver parts of the ring. Even gold-filled wire (just like solid gold) rarely tarnishes. This ring is approximately a size 7.
