Etta Garnet earrings are hand-crafted from hammered solid raw copper wire, faceted garnet, and on Niobium hypoallergenic ear wires.
Garnet is so named from the Latin “granaries” or pomegranate. It has been used by a variety of cultures since the Bronze Age, holding importance in battle and royal courts. Garnets are said to provide protection, a calming influence, and also renewed energy. It is a January/Aquarius birthstone.
Copper has been known for centuries and in many cultures to have healing properties. Because of its electrical properties, some people believe it has an energizing quality of its own that can be absorbed through wearing it. That same energy is believed to improve flexibility, mobility, and the wearer's luck.
Copper can change color due to a chemical reaction with the air and/or skin. There is a long-standing belief that some individuals are allergic to copper, but this is actually very rare. Keeping your jewelry clean and dry will help prevent any skin discoloration. Avoid applying anything but jewelry wax to seal your jewelry (despite rumors, nail polish should be avoided).
These earrings measure approximately 2” in drop length (including the ear wire).
