Since ancient times, Amethyst has been beloved the world over. The semi-precious gem comes in a variety of tones, including rich, royal purple, lavender, and even dogtooth (a mixture of purple, brown, and white). Amethyst provides a peaceful, calming influence, very useful in meditation. It is the birthstone of those born in February.
